20.09.11: OPETH - Heritage

Da bin ich ja mal gespannt!

Da freu ich mich auch richtig drauf! Ich finde alle Opeth Alben gut bis sehr gut, viel kann also nicht schiefgehen.

Das Cover ist schon mal sehr geil:

Ja (hatte auch schon überlegt es hier zu posten), gefällt mir auch sehr gut, auch wenn's für die Band sehr ungewohnt ist, da alle anderen Cover farblich sehr unauffällig oder zumindest immer Ton in Ton waren. Aber warum sollten sie auch Erwartungen erfüllen? Bin mal gespannt ob's dann auch musikalisch überraschend ist, wobei ich mir ja kaum vorstellen kann, dass sie das letzte Album noch mal übertreffen können.

Ich denke schon, dass das neue Album auch musikalisch überraschend werden kann, wenn man Folgendes liest:

The band leader also said that he had grown tired of extreme metal already in the 90s, but couldn't explain why the previous record still included death growls.

"I have wanted to make a record like this since I was 20", Ã…kerfeldt said and added that making it would not have been possible without the metal roots that brought them success.

The journalist also says: "In any case, some metal fans will have troule with Heritage, but if your hopes are more in the 70s, this album can only work. This is probably safe to assume after a single listen.

Die Veröffentlichung des Lord Vicar-Albums ist für den 31 Oktober 2011 geplant (http://www.hellridemusicforums.com/foru ... 887&page=2).

Bei Opeth fand ich die Death Metal-Parts sowieso immer störend, dieses ständige Pendeln zwischen stimmigen Instrumentalteilen und hektischem Gehacke. Wechsel zwischen normalem Gesang und Death Metal-Gesang innerhalb eines Liedes kann ich auch nicht leiden. Daher könnte das neue Album sogar interessant werden. Mellotrons sind gut, habe ich gehört (im doppelten Wortsinne).

Nanu, könnte das nach all den Jahren denn meine erste Opeth-Anschaffung werden?
Weder DM-Parts noch Gegrunze (cheers all around!), Love und Crimso bei den Einflüssen, keine 'wall of sound'-Produktion, und das Coverbild sieht ja auch total nach 1970-Heavy Psych aus. Ich bin da guter Dinge.

Das klingt in der Tat sehr spannend, und ich bin mir fast sicher, dass mir das gefallen wird - wobei ich ja gerade den Kontrast zwichen den 60er/70er Psych-/Prog-Rock-Elementen und den Death Metal Parts immer sehr spannend fand, vor allem auf dem letzten Album. Aber "Damnation" liebe ich ja auch, und die hat ja mit Metal nun überhaupt nichts zu tun und dürfte wohl noch ruhiger als das nächste Album sein.

Geil finde ich übrigens auch die Aussage "Lots of keys, piano and mellotron are featured. Some intros include clarinet and contrabass". Das könnte richtig geil passen, jetzt wo die Däss Medl Parts wegfallen. Meiner Meinung nach hatte die Band ihren Stil auf den letzten beiden Alben perfektioniert, da macht die "neue" (Aus-)Richtung irgendwie schon Sinn.

2011 ist ein verdammt starkes Jahr bis jetzt, und wenn ich daran denke was noch auf uns zukommt (z.B. OPETH, SYMPHONY X, DREAM THEATER), dann wird mir ganz warm im Schritt.

Klingt nach schmerzhafter Kaffeverbrühung, ist auch ärgerlich, wenn man beim lesen abgelenkt ist, und den Mund nicht trifft. Soll ich dir einen Arzt rufen?

Ansonsten kann ich mich den Meinungen nur anschließen, schon das Cover hatte mir neulich exzellent gefallen, und auch die Ankündigungen klingen spannend. Aber ob ich reinhör? Eher nicht, ich kenne meine Faulheit, Bands mit großen Backkatalog anzuhören...
