13 Metal Forces Fest. 26/27.11. Diamond Head, Blitzkrieg

Finde ich nun auch nicht so spannend, da bereits ein paar Mal gesehen und sie spielen auf dem KIT. DARK QUARTERER und mit Abstrichen DIAMOND HEAD und ASOMVEL machen es schon noch interessant. SOLSTICE hätte wirklich alles gerechtfertigt, aber ob ich angesichts Finanz- und Zeitknapptheit noch fahre, bleibt abzuwarten. Das sind immerhin 12 Stunden Zugfahrt in jede Richtung.
Sorry. Bin halt enttäuscht über die Absage, die nicht oder nur sehr bedingt die Band zu verantworten hat.

Ich finde es auch extrem schade und enttäuschend dass SOLSTICE nicht spielen werden, aber es besteht ja jetzt die Möglichkeit, sie eventuell nächstes Jahr live erleben zu können. CRYSTAL VIPER lösen bei mir auch nicht gerade Begeisterungsstürme als Ersatz für SOLSTICE aus, aber ich denke mir dass ich das Festival trotzdem besuchen werde.

Auf mein Fest ist jeder band willkommen die bock auf spielen hat!!!

Solstice konnen auf dem HOD jetz spielen oder DSR sind auf jedemfall besses aufgehoben als bei so ein kleines underground Fest.

Wer jetz wegen Solstice absagen nicht kommt kann echt zuhause bleiben, auf solche "möchtegerne metalfans" kann ich gut verzichten!

Gestern hast du hier noch behauptet, du hättest mit Rich ausgemacht sie nächstes Jahr bei dir spielen zu lassen. Irgendwie ziemlich widersprüchlich...

Dann heul´ doch. Die Leute haben sich sehr auf das Festival und die bestätigten Bands gefreut. Vor allem wenn es sich um eine Band handelt, die man nur alle Schaltjahre mal zu Gesicht bekommt und die viele von uns noch nie gesehen haben kannst du bei einer Absage keine freudigen Luftsprünge erwarten. Schade, dass du bei jedem Kommentar immer gleich die beleidigte Leberwurst spielst und zu einer sachlichen Diskussion nicht in der Lage bist.

Na klar stehe ich auf The Lamp of Thoth, sehr sogar. Aber ich hab die Band halt in letzter Zeit erst zwei mal live gesehen und werde wohl auch noch diverse andere Gelegenheiten haben sie zu sehen. Da mein Budget halt doch recht überschaubar ist, muss ich bei Festivals eben etwas selektieren und wegen einer Band, gut mit Asomvel wären's zwei, ist mir der finanzielle und Zeitliche Aufwand einfach zu viel. Zumal es eh schon Gerüchte gibt, dass die Auftritte von den anderen Miskatonic Bands (eben TLoT und Asomvel) auch alles andere als in trockenen Tüchern sind.

Wenn ich mich dann auch noch, nur weil ich nicht eine Stange Geld ausgeben möchte um auf ein Festival zu gehen, dessen Billing für mich völlig uninteressant geworden ist (Also weil ich mich weigere das zu tun, was beim typischen Wacken Gänger sonst immer kritisiert wird), vom Veranstalter als "Pseudo-Metal Fan" bezeichnen lassen muss, dann wäre das eigentlich eh schon ein Grund das Metal Forces in Zukunft vollkommen zu ignorieren.

Absagen sind immer blöd und wiederum ärgerlich für Leute, die sich auf Solstice gefreut haben. Diese Schuldfragendiskussion finde ich ein typisch deutsches Phänomen und ziemlich albern. Solstice sind nicht dabei und fertig. Der Ersatz kein gleichwertiger Ersatz und deshalb kann ich Absagen von Fans auch verstehen. Warum müssen sich Veranstalter und Boardler (Fans) jetzt gegenseitig dissen? Überreaktion beider Seiten?

Mir erschliesst sich z.B. nicht, warum man nur wegen Solstice auf das Festival soll, die ja nicht mal Headliner sind? Die sollen lieber mal 'ne zünftige Tour als Headliner spielen oder ein Festival beschließen. Gute Songs gibt es genug, wenn mir auch Morris Ingrams Stimme auf der NDA nicht immer zusagt, bin auch kein Kauzer, aber mit dem Adrian die Songs zu hören, das hätte was.

Daniele, we are not on the festival because you cannot cover our travelling expenses, even though you assured me you could up until 10 minutes before Svea mailed me and asked we pay half of them ourselves, we agreed mutually that we will not play because we do not have money to travel, we are not a charity, neither is the festival, though I reckon that since Diamond Head and Blitzkrieg do not play for free (after all, botox and hairweaves are expensive!) the festival's finances will take a hammering and of course these bands rarely play at all.........

BUT, don't use the fact we are not playing as a means to attack people here, it makes me sad. We were happy to be on the billing, but I'm sure you'll find a suitable replacement, after all I did suggest ATLANTEAN KODEX to you to replace us, but if people don't want to visit that doesnt make them false. We turned down THREE other festivals to play at yours, I hope you appreciate that, we set a goal and that has been taken away. Fair enough, I can live with it, but if SOLSTICE fans are the ones you can do without now, don't ask me again to play.

Rich, we have just wrote you an email.

Beside this we are willing to respond to your official statement as follows - though we are doubting that this should be made official like this - but hey we have nothing to hide anyway:

first of all it would have been a great pleasure to have Solstice on board at the MFF - but unfortunately we have not had enough information about the band structure in time - and got this info just recently some days ago -which was the reason why both of us - MFF and Solstice has finally decided to cancel the Solstice show.

Band condition at the moment - as you have told MFF, is that your singer lives in Canada (BC), another member in South Wales which is for sure wonderful places to live but makes logistic arrangement for us quite hard and not affordable and regarding our capacities of our festival quite a bit risky - both members are not able to come together for us to make a direct flight to Germany easier . Moreover we cannot afford to let a or two persons fly in for almost 2000 EUR plus the remaining members, plus other expenses, fee and so on - that will exeed even a tripple amount of what we have usually calculated before we have had your news about the band conditions.

That is what we have explained to you (actually confidentially!!) and at the same time we have asked you to suggest us a solution if we still should keep Solstice at MFF . Contribution would have been an arrangement of flight costs - which is for sure not a MUST but just an idea (we thought of your eager to play NOT ONLY at weak "festival only" - your personal quote and we considered Solstice live schedule which is not really that occupied at the moment, is it?)

As you have said that you or other band members are not able to conribute we both came to the decision not to manage any further arrangement for Solsice. Though we have decided together to keep Lamp of Thoth and Asomvel which is a pretty good deal for both of us and MISKATONIC foundation, isnt it? We believe you are with us in this way, arent you?

So to make things short: Get back to us if you have got any queries!

And for those who wont show up at MFF as of the cancellation of your show: Its a real pity, but well we believe for sure, you might have many other changes again to play at some other excellent festival this year.

ICh weiss allerdings nicht wie du auf 2000 Euro für zwei Flüge kommst? Ein Kanadaflug kostet ca. 600 Euro und ein Flug aus Wales maximal 150-200 Euro. Aber das nur am Rande.

Anders als manchen Festival, tue ich das MFF ohne jedlichen support / sponsoren, organizieren, hab kein gewinn aus Getränken und muss sogar für die Location mieten/PA bezahlen, nach jedem festival ist ein reingewinn von -0. Das nur am randen.

Besucher die bei uns waren wissen dass nicht alles gold ist was glänzt... trotzdem die vielen feedbacks treiben mich/uns weiter das zu machen was wir machen nicht perfekt aber immerhin gibts das MFF seit knapp 10 jahr...

Auf Solstice hab mich auch riesig gefreut hätte Rich sonst nicht gefragt.. ist nicht so das ich einfach irgendwelche bands auf dem billing packe.

Lass dich nicht runterziehen weil hier ein paar Leute angepisst sind, dass Solstice nicht spielen. Wenn die Band wirklich spielen will, dann wird es genügend Möglichkeiten geben, dass sie auf einem der zahlreichen kleineren Festivals hier in Deutschland gebucht werden, anscheinend ist das interesse ja da. Dort können dann ja auch gerne alle Solstice Fans hinfahren wenn sie möchten. Ich fahr aufs MFF ich freu mich dank Crystal Viper nun noch deutlich mehr aufs Festival und ich denke dass auch andere so denken also schalten wir einfach alle wieder nen Gang runter.

Sehr schade, die News.
Wundert mich aber schon, dass euch nicht bekannt war, dass Adrian in Kanada lebt und Solstice derzeit nicht viel proben können. Das ist ja allseits bekannt.
Das Billing ist natürlich immernoch gut, und ich bin mir sicher, dass das Festival auch spassig wird.
Solche Aussagen:

sind allerdings extrem unprofessionell und können mir schnell den Spass an Festivals vermiesen.
Es gibt nun mal in Deutschland (glücklicherweise) ein paar mehr Underground Festivals, man muss sich irgendwie entscheiden.
Warum ich jetzt ein "Möchtegern Metalfan" bin, weil ich diese Entscheidung von den Bands abhängig mache, müsst ihr mir noch erklären.
